World of Warcraft Item Upgrades The upgrade of an item can be used to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it could boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats. Upgrades to equipment in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests Each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specified amount. Item Level When an item is upgraded, its stats are increased in value. item upgrades is the sum of all of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive, dependent on who you employ and what you do. This is because of how many perks must be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded. It can also be used as a gating requirement when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It can also be used to limit the amount of PvP gear players are able to wear, since PvP is limited at lower levels. The average level of the item can be found on the character sheet. The level of an item can help players compare the potency of gear when deciding to purchase or sell. It's an excellent indicator of an item's quality and the amount of damage it will be capable of dealing with. Comparing items from the inventory of a seller can be done by using the item's level. On PC, you can view the item level by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the full description of the item, including its level. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat. There are a variety of theories on how the level of an item is calculated. One theory is that the item level is a number derived from a formula which calculates the amount an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration the fact that various perks have different value, and also that sockets have gems that increase the item's overall value. This can result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is usually very close to Blizzards actual level of the item. However, this isn't the only factor that determines the ilvl of an item, as the size of the area the item was dropped in could change the value of its stats, for instance by adding a level to its crit rating or haste rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl. Item Stats The item's stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game uses them in many ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to a single weapon and to motivate players to experiment with other weapons. The stat modifications of an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then increased by a player's level. The upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. An item that is white or grey, for example, will only be upgraded one time and items with rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times at more expensive costs. Affixes are another way to change an item's stats. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to provide items with extra damage or special abilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs) or to make them unique by putting a name on them. All affixes are being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window, pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold and other items which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other rerolling options. In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can also choose which stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The possible ranges of stats for an item are determined by the level of the item, however all items are guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within the range, unless it's an exclusive item or the result of a God roll from a boss of a raid. Another thing that could be changed by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or choosing which stats to increase. Similar to the base equipment, this must be done per item, and the item comparison interface would not display all the possible stats simultaneously. Item Luck The Luck stat of a player boosts the chance of finding items as well as the properties created by loot and the intensity of these properties. It does not, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives the player a possibility to obtain better equipment earlier in the game, and is therefore more valuable in early game runs than in later ones, because most players value greater weapon scaling and defense over raw damage gains. In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading, which increase with each level of the item. These can also be increased with the use of anti-materials like the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing. Weapons, shields, and armor can be created or spawned with the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can be improved by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) for a further +40 luck, or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140. Moreover, certain items, like the Hollow infused weapon can be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items can be bought in the shop, or they can be constructed using the right ingredients. Item Failure Item upgrades are costly and not all upgrades will succeed. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to boost their chance of success or stop them from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful. The rate of success of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading the item, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. redirected here of success can only be increased as high, and the probability that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%. The performance of an upgrades is also influenced by the Luck of that item. Each item has a success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5%. The upgrade overlays of the item are rendered above the items in the inventory. This could obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
